Blogging For Dummies
I laid outside in the sun today, stretched out awkwardly on a new, slightly uncomfortable lounge chair while reading The Secret and thinking about what I want in my life. I want to be able to travel, spend time with B, work on women’s issues and do lots of nerdy website stuff. While I do all of those things now, I have to fit them in around my job. (Which is nerdy website stuff, but for the man, not myself.)
I was looking at Dooce the other day and noticed she is able to support her family through advertising on her blog. How cool would that be? I could travel with B, work from the road, and spread feminism to the masses. Of course I added my blog with a million readers to my vision board next to Oprah, a house and a photo of B and I. I suppose it’s a far fetched idea, but with the words from The Secret buzzing in my mind I headed to the store to get a couple books on blogging I’d seen online last week.
They only had Blogging For Dummies, so I left the store empty handed, and on the drive home I kept thinking about Kindle. In the past month I’ve decided to stop buying cds. I had been resistant because I always loved having a giant music collection, but it’s so easy to just download music from iTunes. It’s immediate gratification.
I don’t think I’ll be switching to Kindle anytime soon, but it would have been nice to have today because I was pumped to read. I think about my iPod and wonder if I should just jump on the Kindle band wagon before my bookshelf overflows anymore. I love the image of a room in my house with floor to ceiling shelves on every wall filled with books, but is that going to be a thing of the past? I thought I’d keep collecting cds despite getting an iPod and now I’m moving away from that. Is it time to sell my giant stereo that’s been collecting dust for months before no one wants it anymore?
Also…I spent the morning watching Ninja Warrior and have to say I’m excited for Wipeout and I Survived a Japanese Game Show to start.
